More In DepthThere a 3 main factors for the cost for tidal/water power generators geography (the terrain/location) how far/close it is to the grid (the connection system for our electricity the more further out in the ocean the more the cost because they have to set up wiring in the ocean and that ain't cheap the last one is the speed of the current i assume this is for stability of the machine as the current could loosen the tech.
Why this is restricted to certain countrys/states is the tide/waves in many other places you could be wasting money because the tide is too low. Early Stages new methods and ideas could make this tech more cheap and affordable for now lots of methods are costly due to building/assembling the machine to sea is a tough job, and very few people could execute this job many factorys don't produce parts for these machines due to it being so small so over time this price should dwindle. Very Predictable tides are easily predictable because they are caused by rotation of earth and that doesn't change all that much and cannot really vary whereas wind power can't be predicted and could blow at any time this an advantage to this technology. Emission Free: Unlike many other machines/factorys tidal/water power is emmision free (meaning doesn't release gasses) and doesn't release any gasses harmful or not making this a healthy choice for our Earth. Efficient: Unlike coal this is efficient in conversion to electricity and only 20% goes to waste comparing to coals whopping 50% loss of electricity. Statistics and Data |
